WHY PLI EXISTS,
AND WHO BUILT IT.
PLI began in 1995 as a quality-support company serving Ford plants across Michigan and Ohio, and grew into something bigger: a family of brands that covers the three pressures every manufacturer knows too well — quality, workforce, and production. Today, whether you are containing a customer issue, filling a shift, building out an overflow order, or recovering value from returns, it is the same PLI behind all of it, and often the same single phone call.
What has not changed since day one is why we exist. Manufacturing runs on tight schedules and unforgiving standards, and the difference between a bad day and a lost program often comes down to how fast the right people show up.

Nico Cottone Chief Executive Officer
Nico acquired PLI in 2016 and has spent the years since turning a quality-support company into a group that covers the whole problem: inspection and sorting, assembly, staffing, and value recovery.
Every division came from the same place. PLI Staffing exists because we needed to staff our own floors, so we hired people out of the staffing industry to build it properly. Within a year it was recruiting for around a hundred of our own people, and it now serves more than fifty clients across Northeast Ohio. Trucking followed for the same reason. Nothing here started on a whiteboard.
His background is accounting, then international consulting, then a business he co-founded in 2008 that turned him into an operator. He now runs five Ohio companies spanning zinc plating, powder and Teflon coating, sorting, assembly, staffing and logistics, serving automotive, consumer products and oil and gas. Outside work he races sailboats with his family.
Every part of PLI exists because we needed it ourselves first.
